Aim of subject

It aims to help students develop their creativity, appreciation of music and effective communication. In the learning process, students can nurture their aesthetic sensitivity and build up cultural awareness. Furthermore, students can pursue a life-long interest in music and become more aware of it. In addition, it helps students develop musical skills, construct knowledge of music and develop positive values and attitudes. Through the participation in musical activities, students will gain delight, enjoyment and satisfaction.


Learning Objectives

There are four learning goals. The primary school curriculum is divided into two stages of learning to achieve the goal of learning priorities.

  • To develop creativity and imagination.
  • Develop their musical ideas and master creative skills by playing musical instruments and listening to music.

A.1 The first stage of learning

  • Use basic musical skills, simple musical ideas and different sounds to create music.
  • Create rhythms / motion to reflect different qualities of music.

A.2 The second stage of learning

  • Create music which is structured and organized.

B. Develop musical skills and processes

  • Develop their skills of playing musical instructions to experience and perform music. In the process, it can cultivate their musical imagination and sense of music.

B.1 The first stage of learning

  • Recite or read notes to sing and play musical instruments showing their basic performing skills.

B.2. The second stage of learning

  • Use stave and other applications to read music and musical notation.
  • Sing together and two parts singing accurately.
  • Play accurately with fixed pitch and non fixed pitchin struments.
  • Use information technology to record music.

C. To pursue musical aesthetic ability

  • Understand and respond to the music and cultivate aesthetic capacity.

C.1 The first stage of learning

  • Express personal feelings about the music.
  • Identify the sound / musical features and use simple terms.
  • To describe the music features.

C.2 The second stages of learning

  • Describe and analyse of simple musical structure.
  • Apply established criteria and appropriate music terminology to appreciate musical performances.

D. To understand the situation of music

  • Understand the function of music and the relationship between music and culture.

D.1 The first stage of learning

  • Describe music features in everyday life.

D.2 The second stage of learning

  • Describe different situations using vocal / instruments.
